One of the Dark Days
I have suffered from this awful affliction for more than fifty years, 20 years episodic and more than thirty years chronic.
Like most sufferers I have had days when I didn’t want to be alive.
On one occasion at 4.30 in the morning in agony and feeling life was hopeless I felt that if hung myself the pain would stop and this would be an easy way out.

I knew there was some rope in my garage and I decided that I would hang myself from a large oak tree in my garden. I staggered in to the garage and saw that my young son had tied his toys up with the rope I was desperate to use.
I was completely incapable of untying the knots my son had put round his toys.
I then started to shake and passed out. When I awoke the pain had gone.
From then on whenever I have an attack which is most days I just think to myself the pain will stop and that helps me get through the agonising pain.
